Last week we celebrated World Book Day and were blown away by the effort that went into it. From imaginative homemade costumes to some brilliantly creative characters, it was wonderful to see so many pupils bring their favourite stories to life. Moments like this remind us how important reading is, sharing books with children, giving them access to stories, and encouraging a love of reading can make a huge difference to their confidence, curiosity and learning.

We know that wrap around care is incredibly important for many families. That's why, alongside our wide range of extra-curricular activities, we offer Breakfast Club, Homework Club and After School Clubs to support busy school days. Our clubs are designed to be flexible for parents, you can book in advance or simply turn up when you need them. A supportive start to the day, a productive space for homework, and a safe, engaging place to stay after school.

Elements have been experimenting with dissolving, exploring how certain solids can be mixed with a liquid to create a solution. From predicting what would happen, to stirring, observing and recording their results, there was plenty of curiosity and excitement in the lab! A fantastic hands-on way to understand how materials change and interact, and some budding scientists in the making.

Well done to our U9 and U11 boys for their brilliant performances at the Woodford Green Prep cross country race. You tried your hardest, showed great determination and worked superbly as a team, we are very proud of you all. Thank you to @wgprep for organising a fantastic event.

We're very pleased to share that we raised £132.80 for NSPCC Number Day. The boys fully embraced the theme, coming to school wearing numbers for the day, with plenty of football shirts on show and some fantastic creative efforts across the year groups. It was great to see so much enthusiasm for such an important cause. Thank you to all our pupils and families for your support. Every donation will help the NSPCC continue its vital work supporting and protecting children.

Recently, we asked our boys how SOUP-er they could be, encouraging them to bring in cans of soup for our local foodbank. Once again, they and their families, showed incredible generosity, donating 112 cans along with many other much-needed items. A big thank you to Francis for taking on the important job of keeping track of all the donations. This reflects two important principles our Catholic Social Teaching: Option for the Poor, which reminds us to think of those most in need and do what we can to help, and Community & Participation, which calls us to be active in supporting and connecting with others. We're so proud of the boys for putting these values into action and making a real difference in our community.

Before half term, our Rudiments entrepreneurs put on a fantastic Enterprise Day. Thanks to the support of all the other pupils who brought money to buy their products, the event raised £986.36 for Cancer Research UK and National Eczema Society, two very deserving causes. Well done to all the boys for their creativity, hard work, and teamwork, and a big thank you to their families who supported them.

Tomorrow, our Year 6 boys will showcase their entrepreneurial skills at the Rudiments Enterprise Afternoon. After pitching their ideas to the Dragon's Den panel, each group secured funding and have been busy designing, making, and marketing their products with posters displayed throughout the school. The proceeds will be split between Cancer Research UK and the National Eczema Society. Please send your son with a small amount of money and join us in supporting our young entrepreneurs and their chosen charities!

Huge thanks to our wonderful PTA for organising another brilliant Lunch with Your Son event. The boys love sharing their lunchtime with a family member and we strongly believe a successful school is built on a great community and healthy parent–staff relationships, and days like this show exactly why.

Our CAFOD Club went litter picking this week as part of our commitment to CAFOD's LiveSimply Award. The award encourages practical, everyday actions that support people in poverty, protect the planet, and promote fair and just living. Pupils helped clear litter from the local area and reflected on how small actions can make a positive difference to our community and environment. CAFOD

Figures (Year 5) visited Epping Museum in Waltham Abbey as part of their History topic on the Anglo-Saxons. They explored real artefacts from the period, visited the church where King Harold is believed to be buried, and printed their own shields inspired by Anglo-Saxon designs. A fantastic day of hands-on learning, as Ethan put it, "We had a wonderful time!"
